My Journey

Software Developer

Airtel X Labs | June 2019 - Present

Ever since I joined Airtel, I have been working in a team called Growth. The goal of the team is to increase app activity and active app users. Some of the projects that I've been working are as follows:

  • Referral Engine — Built an application where a user can send invite to a non-app user and both of them get a reward for successful sign-up. Used ES to fetch and validate the activity of user, web-view was built in ReactJS and backend in Java Spring boot. This increased the number of app sign-ups by ~8,000 everyday.
  • Airtel Rewards — Some users tend to perform certain actions like recharges on third party apps. In order to incentivise the user who recharge on Airtel app and encourage more users to do so, we have started distributing rewards to users for their actions on app.
Built the backend for reward distribution. All the events were captured by Kafka and rewards are distributed after doing business validations on them. We distribute around 150,000 rewards everyday.
  • Airtel Weekends — Airtel Weekends — Worked on building a gaming platform where users can play games on weekends and get rewarded for winning the game.
Built the backend and frontend for one of the game, spin the wheel. With a weekly traffic: ~70,000 users.
  • Coupon Distribution — TTo distribute and facilitate users to manage their telecom coupons I worked on building a separate page in react native.

BTech Project

IIIT Delhi | Jan 2018 - May 2019

Built a smart fridge using RF and computer vision that could correctly identify which items were taken by the user and based on the objects detected users were billed. Did this as my BTech project and won gold medal for the best BTech project. Here's a small video that depicts the project.
